Privacy Policy

1. What the App Does

Lichtblick is an iOS and macOS app that shows how day length changes at your location: how many minutes and seconds today gained or lost compared to yesterday, your position in the seasonal light cycle, and whether you're heading toward brighter or darker days. It includes a home screen widget.

2. Data Collection

Lichtblick does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Specifically, the app does not collect:

• Personal information — no names, email addresses, or accounts
• Analytics or tracking — no analytics services, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting
• Location history — your coordinates are used only to calculate sunrise and sunset times and are never stored on any server
• Usage data — no information about how you use the app is recorded
• Advertising identifiers — the app contains no advertising

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Lichtblick stores a small amount of data locally on your device to provide a fast, responsive experience:

• Cached sunrise/sunset data — API results keyed by rounded coordinates and date, stored in the app's shared container
• Your selected location — so the app remembers which city you chose
• Last calculated result — for instant display when opening the app or widget

This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

4. Third-Party Services

Lichtblick uses the sunrise-sunset.org API to fetch sunrise and sunset times. When you use the app, a request is made to this free, public API containing:

• Your approximate coordinates (rounded to ~11 km precision)
• The current date

No API key, account, or personal identifier is included in these requests. The sunrise-sunset.org API does not require authentication and is not operated by us. Please refer to their own policies for details on how they handle requests.

Lichtblick does not use any other third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks beyond Apple's own system frameworks.

5. No Cookies, No Accounts

The app does not use cookies. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no registration of any kind.

6. Children's Privacy

Lichtblick does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children. Since no personal information is collected or required, no age verification is necessary.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to access, rectify, and delete your personal data. Since Lichtblick does not collect any personal data, there is nothing to access, rectify, or delete.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this document.
